And everyone in this story is looking, in his or her own way, for the meaning of life. They are busy, overextended and challenged by their lives as single parents. The adults in the story, from the mother and father to Jeremy’s plainspoken Grandma, are blessedly normal as well. Lizzie has a collection of accidentally found playing cards, likes adventure but lacks judgment, is used to taking care of herself and her father, and makes quick decisions. And, as you might imagine, they embark on a search for the mysterious missing keys and for the meaning of life. Intrigued? Well, so are Jeremy and Lizzie. Just before his thirteenth birthday, Jeremy Fink receives a keyless locked box-set aside by his father before his death five years earlier-that. The box has keyholes on four sides and an accompanying letter explains that the keys have been accidentally lost. Engraved on the box are the words, The meaning of Life: for Jeremy Fink to open on his 13th Birthday. When he is about to turn 13, Jeremy opens a package from his father, deceased five years earlier. Their bedrooms share a wall between their apartments and they have been passing notes, getting into spats and bossing each other around for nearly 12 years. They are friends in the almost-like-a-sibling sort of way and not, definitely not, in the I-have-a-secret-crush-on-you way. They have lived through the departure of Lizzie’s mother, who ran off with a Dakota cattle rancher, and the death of Jeremy’s father. Jeremy and Lizzie are best friends and have been since they were one-year-olds. ![]() “My sweat smells like peanut butter.” So opens Jeremy Fink and the Meaning of Life, a moving, hilarious and altogether engaging tale of self-discovery by Wendy Mass.

Wine cooler flavor12/10/2023 The public wasn’t really aware of the health risks that large amounts of sugar could cause to the human body, so soft drinks sales skyrocketed as people were looking for something more flavorful than water. This commercial activity flooded the market with wine-like drinks that were lighter on the alcohol and wine taste, but had that sweet appeal of soda.Ĭarbonated, sugary drinks became very popular in the 1980’s and 90’s when soft drinks like Coca-Cola and Pepsi were at their peak. Wine coolers became extremely popular in the 1980’s when big distributors started creating and bottling their own, commercial, versions of the drink. Wine cooler beverages were typically homemade wine drinks that combined traditional wine with fruit, sugar, and carbonated water to create a new and unique “wine” flavor. Wine Cooler BeverageĮven though it may seem obvious to most people, there still seems to be some confusion on what a wine cooler beverage is and how it differs from actual wine. The older generation may remember the wine cooler beverage, while the younger generation may have never heard of such a drink, and is merely looking for a way to keep their wine cool and refreshing without having to take up space in their refrigerator. It’s a very ambiguous term in the wine industry so we want to make sure we cover all our bases here. Let’s focus on the wine cooler beverage first and then we’ll briefly get into the wine cooler appliance. But on the other hand there is also a beverage that was extremely popular in the 1980’s and 90’s, which is referred to as a wine cooler, and yet has nothing to do with chilling your wine to a certain temperature. On one hand there is an appliance in which you store wine to keep it cold, a wine cooler. ![]() When the question comes up, what is a wine cooler? Many people tend to get confused.
